Oink

Wow, I was just using pubmed and thought this was so cool:

I have been well aware of the WHO/CDC work on the swine flu frenzy but it's just amazing that as this virus emerges, there are people & labs actively decoding its secrets!...loading up swine influenza sequences! so cool, science at work!

p.s. I know this makes me a nerd..

p.s.s. I can't believe college is almost over for me! :o ...

Cuteness

Yay, one week down, two finals done! And today, my blog got a semi-makeover with a new three column format. And my mom bought me some new shoes for my graduation/ everyday cuteness...I realized that fabulous shoes are whatever you think is fabulous! haha

While I was out at La Cantera (best mall ever!) with my mom, we walked through Anthropologie. I haven't been in there for about a year, a stigma from working there for a bit...but I finally went back in and remembered why I wanted to work there in the first place! I love it! I especially loved the honeycomb decorations on the windows! too cute! I am eyeing these pretty, lemon yellow initial necklaces from Anthropolgie!

Oh and i really want this poster, <3 the Submarines!

Last night I went to see Earth, it was cute but with lots of BBC clips maybe...at least they plant a tree for each tix this week, so go see it!

End of a long week...

So today, I entered into Designer Blog's contest for a free blog makeover!! I am crossing my fingers because I am a poor college student, who couldn't otherwise afford one! in the meantime, I am trying to update my blog on my own! Enter for yourself here!

In other news, I kinda started to get a little sad about the notion that there are only 8 weeks left until June 15th (last day for a UTHSCSA offer)...I just feel like Greg & I are at this point, where it would be fun to move in together and start (maybe) planning a future together...but we will have to put our life together on hold if i have to go away for medical school :( why can't i have the best of both worlds?! medical school & him?! I just keep thinking 2 years wouldn't be so bad, then maybe we could live in San Marcos and both commute an hour to rotations each day :P oh dear, i would just miss my best friend so much...and listening to Matt Costa's "Vienna" doesn't help much...

Back in Texas

Hi world,
I'm back in Texas, the best state ever...lol going to another state always awakens me to the pride that Texans have for their state. I had a great time Wisconsin. NCUR was interesting, I knocked my presentation out of the ball park (yay!!) and I had a short vacation too! I even managed to visit Minnesota :) The only bummer was that my cheese was no bueno because the airline lost my suitcase with my queso in it! But I found my suitcase at my front door this morning so all is peachy

Now, I just have to survive the 2 weeks & 3 days until graduation!! I think I can do it...but it's oh so not fun right now...In fact I am about to end my study break to go study for my 2 lab finals manana...boo...

But aren't these the cutest shoes ever?! I love the yellow!! so cheery! ...I bet they would make a nice graduation present...

Or maybe these... or some pearl studs....just an idea

I'm in...Alaska?!...

Well kind of. actually i'm in Onalaska, Wisconsin :) Not quite as exotic but hey it's different! All of the nature is kind of gloomy and hibernating still...the trees don't think that's its spring yet, unlike the ones in San Antone.
I woke up way early at 4:30am, but I was surprisingly awake & excited. Our first plane left S.A. around 7am and we reached Chicago's O'Hare around 9:30am. I had a 3 hours layover in "warm 39 degrees" Chicago but that was alright since I just spent the time chatting with other students -indoors. Then we took an hour flight from Chicago to La Crosse, WI. So yay! I've arrived & tomorrow I get to present and then just hang out!

In other news, I am pretty happy with life, once I figured out that nobody really has control, I stopped freaking out about my lack of it in my life right now...just enjoying living every minute!! 3 WEEKS 'till Graduation!!!
I hope everyone (out there...nobody actually reads this but I can pretend) had a great Easter! Here is a quick pic of my new shirt I was happy to wear that day... toodles!

Skynachos!!

So a few things... skynachos = owls (thanks to Stephen Colbert haha)
& this was my picture of my latest obsessions from February! Way back when now lol but i still had to remember it:

A few Saturdays back, my mom and i visited Orange Cup on one of our outings (in between perusing La Cantera/ Scrapbook 911 and talking about a million little things). This place is awesome! It's a frozen yogurt shop with tons of extras (like my aciaberry with strawberries!) Then, Tbird, Regina, Greg & I went there the next weekend, so I could share the joy... possibly addicting! Love it!

On a side note: life is unpredictable! I guess that's what makes it exciting. I found out today that I may have a lot in common with someone but there ARE differences that exist between us for better or for worse. I just hope that one day I will be completely happy in my own family bliss! I hope to be as happy as elizabeth kartchner looks in her shots... but that's all in a life far far away...

I'm at the beginning of April & sooo close to graduation but yet soo far...this month has just snowballed on me with all the work...but i can't say i didn't see it coming! Anywho, I'm pretty excited that in about 2 weeks I will be visiting Wisconsin for the first time for my first research conference!! yay! (fingers crossed for snow?)
